The objective was to use existing data (Fall 2008-2011) to analyze: How and when MC students choose USG programs; How effective is the transition; What is the students? academic success. This study matched more than 17,000 student records from MC to transfers into USM institutions including USG. The matched MC student records were combined with USM system-wide and state higher education data on transfer/enrollment/applicant information. The results identified demographics (age, gender, ethnicity), the number of MC credits transferred, number of DE credits taken, where these students transferred, measures of student success at MC (GPA, AA degree). Current study is focused on the success of these students at USG (persistence rate, USG GPA, graduation rate). Results will be used to improve the effectiveness of the transfer process and academic supports between the two institutions.
